“The 12th annual Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival, which took place May 6 to 12, featured 32 nationally distinguished artists who created 250- plus landscapes that were available at the Collectors’ Soirée and Sale on Saturday, May 12, and for the duration of the exhibition through June 30.

Many of the artists came from other regions stretching up and down the East Coast out to the Midwest and as far as the West. This year, with the growing awareness of Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival, there was an increase in the number of applicants. Out of town artists were housed by committee members and other patron families in the community for the duration of the festival.

Festival artists were directed to paint within 25 miles of Wayne during the first four days of the competition. A combination of pastoral scenes from nearby rural areas and parks as well as quaint scenes from historic Main Line neighborhoods made for a variety of works that reflect the character of the area.

John Cosby juried the artists and awards. He selected 32 artists from across the country to compete in Wayne Art Center’s Plein Air Festival and selected awards for the freshly painted framed works.

The 2018 Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival will remain on display and open to the public until June 30. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
